Meetings held:Approximately six-weekly on Mondays; 11.30am
Venue:At members' homes.
The Discovery Award is a national scheme run on the lines of the Duke of Edinburgh’s
Award, but which has been designed specifically for the over-50 age group. Some members
of the group are working towards the Bronze Award. Others have already achieved the
Bronze and are working towards their Silver. At each level (Bronze, Silver and Gold)
there are four sections: Service in the Community; Hobby/Interest; Recreational Activity;
and the Journey of Discovery (which does not have to be a physical journey). Whatever
your ability or interests, you decide on your goals and then, with the support of
the group you work towards achieving them. The prize is a sense of achievement and
fulfilment at the end - and a certificate if you wish.
At our group meetings we report back on our progress (or problems) on the scheme
since the last meeting, and we try to offer each other motivation, tips, useful contacts
or anything else that might help.
We are a friendly and supportive group and new members are welcome to start at any
time. If you think you might be interested ring or email Hazel Lintott (email: email@example.com
or tel. 01444 414413) to find out more.
